Our Story

Kaitlin and Gina have been friends for more than a decade. Sometimes Kaitlin was Gina's meditation student. On the birth day of BASK, the two were on a retreat in Joshua Tree and Kaitlin came to the morning session dressed in desert winter morning layers: tights and a sweater, a beanie..and, on top of it all, a two-piece number in a gorgeous vintage fabric she’d found at a flea market. This set became the inspiration for our suits.

We found a seamstress in Ojai (where Gina lives) and made a set, initially just for personal wear. But then friends and folks around town went bananas for it and here we are. BASK is for the love of style with the imperative of comfort.

We share our BASK with you as an offering of love: the pleasure of being this comfortable while also feeling stylish and put together.  This is a suit that you can wear over your exercise clothes or pull-on for an early morning drop-off at your kids’ school; then slip on a blouse and a nice shoe and wear the same suit to dinner. Layer it for cool weather or wear with a light top and sandal in the summer.

BASK is consciously-considered from its inception through sourcing and production. Our seamstress Maria makes this whole thing possible. Rightfully, she set her fee, and we are happy to pay her a respectful wage for her talent and service.

Fabrics are direct-sourced from India and Japan. We have some inventory but most likely your suit will be made-to-order. All fabrics are limited-run, so your suit is truly made just for you!
